My name's Snow.

I was called “faggot” every day as a teenager. And they were right. I’m fag. I am a censored word. I can’t say “faggot” in a Youtube video without it being flagged and taken down. I am a transgressive word–to speak my name is an act one can’t take lightly. I can’t speak on myself without being called “brave” and I can’t write about myself without being called a degenerate.

The only things I know are:

  • I am what others say I am.
  • I am only as deep as my grave.

Attic Games

  1. Treat works as if they have (or have the chance to hold) consciousness.
  2. Know that play is natural, like love and fear.
  3. Love that everything is a choice and thus everything can be talked about.
  4. Desire rules that aren’t fair.
  5. Embrace rituals that aren’t necessary.
  6. See that everything is world building, and world building is everything.
  7. Know that Voice is key.
  8. Love the medium and its artistic movements.
  9. Fear that comparisons to other mediums limit us.
  10. Are aware that every work is a language.
  11. Care that everything is a mechanic.
  12. Know that balance has no end and thus no meaning.
  13. Ask that you say at least one thing that’s true.
  14. Ask that same thing from readers and players.
  15. Know that presentation is everything, and everything is presentation.
  16. Yearn for you, because your interaction changes them.
  17. Know that most works are never finished.
  18. Know that most finished works are never seen
  19. Know that most seen works are never read.
  20. Embrace that most read works are never played.
  21. Don’t care that most played works are never played twice.

#4 is so damn good! These are all excellent.

I don't get it. Why are unfair rules desirable?

Simply because life is unfair. It's an important lesson to learn, especially in the context of a temporary game that has no lasting consequences.
